Andrew Garfield had denied all rumours of his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home only to share screen space with Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire. However, in a recent interview, the actor said he has "no plans" to reprise the role again.
"No plans, that’s the truth. Everyone’s gonna call me a liar for the rest of my life. I’m the boy who cried wolf," Garfield told Variety at the recent Screen Actors Guild Awards 2022.
However, in January this year, he had expressed his desire to do more Spider-Man films with Holland and Maguire. "I think that kind of three-brother dynamic is so... I don't know, juicy," he had said.
He played the masked superhero in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), followed by The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014).
The actor was nominated for Best Male Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Tick, Tick … Boom! along with Javier Bardem (Being the Ricardos), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of the Dog) and Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth). The winner of this category was Will Smith, who played Richard Williams, father and coach of tennis champs Serena and Venus Williams, in King Richard.
Among Garfield's upcoming projects is a TV adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited helmed by Luca Guadagnino.
