The untitled film is said to be India's first mermaid movie,
Andrea on location
Dinesh Selvaraj, who last directed Thuppakki Munai starring Vikram Prabhu and Hansika in lead roles, is now busy with the shooting of an untitled film, which has Andrea Jeremiah playing the lead. Billed as India's first movie on mermaid, the project will feature 50 kids, too, in crucial roles.
Focus Films is bankrolling the movie which has Sunainaa, Indumathi and Munishkanth essaying pivotal characters in it. We hear that the team has spent a bomb to erect a set in Chennai to shoot a few crucial portions of the film. The movie will be shot in Tiruchendur and Manapad beach, too.
Dinesh was an assistant director to Mani Ratnam and has worked with the maverick filmmaker in a few projects. The ambitious project which involves a lot of VFX works is expected to be wrapped up in February. The makers are planning to release the movie in theatres as a summer release if everything goes well.
Bala Subramaniem cranks the camera for the project which has art direction by Crawford. The team has already begun works pertaining to VFX for the film. According to the makers, Andrea was chosen to play the lead role in the movie as they felt she has the right appearance and physique to pull off the unique character.
Interestingly, a couple of years ago, Andrea's photoshoot which had her as a mermaid has gone viral on social media. The actress-singer had gone topless for the photoshoot which was lauded by her fans.
Andrea had two releases, Aranmanai 3 (streaming on Zee5) and Master (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) last year, and has almost half-a-dozen releases awaiting, including the much-awaited Pisasu 2, directed by Mysskin. Maaligai, Kaa, Vattam and No Entry are other releases she has in her kitty.
