Kim Catrall won't be featuring in "And Just Like That."
Michael Patrick King, the showrunner of the Sex and the City revival, titled And Just Like That has been talking about the series ahead of its premiere in December this year. One of the most frequently asked questions by him is about Kim Cattrall's absence from the show, while the other lead actors, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon, have reprised their roles from the original hit series.
When Emmy magazine asked King how the new show would differ without Samantha, the showrunner replied that we already know that Kim isn't in it. but aren't aware of Samantha's absence in the series.
While talking about reviving Sex and the City he said that it was because he felt certain that there was a new tale to tell.
Even before the first season dropped on HBO Max, the magazine asked if the series would be renewed for the second season. which King revealed that he was not sure about. The maker shared that it always felt like the beginning when they were working on the series.
He added that there didn't seem to be a beginning, middle, or end. So, if they have enough wonderful stories, he believes they can keep going.
Meanwhile, the latest reports suggest that Samantha Jones, played by Kim, has been relocated to London in And Just Like That. According to DailyMail.com insiders, viewers will learn that she is thriving in England despite her feud with Carrie Bradshaw. The source added that the makers couldn't have Samantha strolling the streets of New York City without the other ladies (Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes) engaging with her.
Thus, the makers decided that keeping her character in London was the ideal way to keep her alive and explain her absence in the upcoming series.
Due to the fallout with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim had earlier declared that she wouldn't be returning to the revival to play her iconic character.
