And Just Like That renewed: Sarah Jessica Parker to be back with the second season of Sex and the City revival

And Just Like That the show's creators have announced that the hit show will be renewed for a second season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, executive producers Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis reprised their roles from the HBO series Sex and the City, which aired from 1998 to 2006. In February, the tenth episode of the first season of And Just Like That aired.

In a statement, showrunner Michael Patrick King said that he is happy and anxious to write further stories about these bright, brave characters, performed by these tremendous, fantastic actors. They are all ecstatic, and just like that, their "sex" life is back.

Sarah Aubrey, HBO Max's head of original content, added that they have been enthralled by the cultural dialogue sparked by these characters and their stories, which are situated in a world they already know and love. They are proud of Michael Patrick King's and their talented writers, producers, cast, and crew for bringing these stories to life. They can't wait for fans to discover what season two has in store for them.

In addition to Parker, Nixon, and Davis, the season one cast included Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, the late Willie Garson, Evan Handler, and Chris Noth from Sex and the City, as well as Sara Ramirez, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, and Karen Pittman.

Shortly after the release of And Just Like That The Hollywood Reporter revealed two women's complaints of sexual assault against Noth (which the actor has denied). His character, John "Mr. Big" Preston, died in the series opener, and he was supposed to make a cameo in the season finale, but the show's producers decided to delete it.

Kim Cattrall, the fourth member of the core Sex and the City cast, will not be appearing in And Just Like That due to a feud with Parker. Samantha Jones, Parker's Carrie Bradshaw persona, was a text message presence on the show. The sequel also excludes SATC creator Darren Star and Candace Bushnell, whose book served as the inspiration for the original series.
