Ananth Mahadevan calls working with Revathy and Kajol in Salaam Venky as 'easy decision'

Ananth Mahadevan's actor buddy Revathy called him when he was casting for his directing debut, The Storyteller last year and questioned why he hadn't approached her for the role. But the South actor-director had a different plan.

The veteran actor told Mid Day that when Revathy asked him if she would repay the favour by playing a role in her film, she was about to start production on Salaam Venky. So Mahadevan took the first shot for Salaam Venky with Revathy, and then she came to his movie to shoot.

With Salaam Venky, Revathy steps behind the camera to narrate the true account of a mother who battles a hard situation with a smile. In the drama, which she cast Kajol to star in, Mahadevan plays a spiritual guru.

The actor claimed that he takes on the role of Venky, a young child who wishes to give his organs after passing away. Playing his mum is Kajol, and Mahadevan's character assists the youngster psychologically and spiritually.

The veteran actor had little trouble deciding to take the lead in Salaam Venky because he greatly admires all of Revathy's films, including Mitr My Friend (2002) and Phir Milenge (2004). After Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998) and Dil Kya Kare (1999), it was exciting for him to see Kajol again.

He told the tabloid that Kajol is still the same; she is a vivacious person and a natural actor. The actor informed him after arriving on the set that she had immediately written a script and would be directing her own movie. Mahadevan said that she is an actor by nature and, being Tanuja's daughter, she was born with the ability to perform.

He said that she is a sensitive director; she is meticulous, competent, and knows exactly what she wants.
