Ajay Devgn's mystery crime thriller Drishyam 2 and Varun Dhawan's horror comedy Bhediya are stiff competitors for An Action Hero.
An Action Hero, directed by Anirudh Iyer in his feature film debut, released in theatres on Friday, December 2. The movie starring Ayushman Khurrana and Jaideep Ahlawat has had a slow start at the box office despite receiving favourable reviews from both the public and the critics.
An Action Hero, which had a first-day collection of Rs. 1.31 crore, had a little increase in its second day's revenue with an increase of Rs. 85 lakh, bringing the two-day total for the action-packed drama to Rs. 3.47 crore.
Ajay Devgn's mystery crime thriller Drishyam 2 and Varun Dhawan's horror comedy Bhediya are stiff competitors for An Action Hero. The former has already surpassed the Rs 150 crore box office milestone and is still playing to full theatres even in its second weekend.
An Action Hero is Khurrana's third theatrical release of the year, following the medical campus-comedy drama Doctor G, which also starred Rakul Preet Singh and Shefali Shah, and the political action thriller Anek, which also starred Andrea Kevichüsa, Manoj Pahwa, and Kumud Mishra. Both of the aforementioned films were a commercial disaster.
Even his romantic comedy Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui with Vaani Kapoor failed to draw audiences to theatres in December 2021; as a result, Anirudh Iyer's film is the Dream Girl actor's fourth straight box office flop. In the pre-pandemic era, he had previously delivered solo hits like Dream Girl, Badhaai Ho, and Andhadhun, among others.
