The first single from Shree Karthick's Kanam has been unveiled by the team now. Titled Amma Song, Jakes Bejoy's impressive composition, Uma Devi's soulful lyrics and Sid Sriram's flawless voice have made the track a perfect ode to mothers. Amala Akkineni and Sharwanand are seen essaying the mother-son duo in the five-minute lyric video.
The makers have released the Telugu version of the song, too, which has lyrics penned by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry. The movie has ben titled Oke Oka Jeevitham in Telugu. Ritu Varma has been paired opposite Sharwanand in the project which is said to have a time travel connect in its story.
Mother Song from Ajith's Valimai, which has lyrics penned by Vignesh Shivan and composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, was the last 'amma song' which Kollywood celebrated in the recent times. There has been numerous examples of celebrating motherhood through songs in Tamil cinema, and Kanam is the latest to have joined the list.
Sujith Sarang and Sreejith Sarang have handled the movie's cinematography and editing respectively. N Satheesh Kumar has helmed the film's art direction and Sudesh Kumar has choreographed the action sequences. Sathish and Ramesh Thilak play key roles in Kanam, while Priyadarshi Pulikonda and Vennela Kishore essay the same roles in Oke Oka Jeevitham.
Kanam marks the comeback of Amala to Kollywood after three decades while Sharwanand is known to Tamil audience through Engeyum Eppothum (streaming on YouTube), in which he played one of the lead roles along with Jai, Anjali and Ananya.
Ritu Varma was last seen in Tamil in the heist thriller Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal (streaming on Netflix) which had her paired opposite Dulquer Salmaan. She was also part of the anthology Putham Pudhu Kaalai (streaming on Amazon Prime Video).
