Jhund is based on the real-life story of a social worker and teacher Vijay Barse
After a long wait, the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund is finally getting ready to hit theatres. The actor took the news to his Instagram page, and announced the release date with a new poster of the movie, featuring himself.
The sports drama will be out on March 4, 2022, the poster revealed. It has also been assured that Jhund will have a theatrical release. “Iss toil se muqaabla karne liye raho taiyaar! Humari team aa rahi hai”, Bachchan penned the caption as he announced the release date.
Jhund is based on the real-life story of a social worker and teacher Vijay Barse. He is also the founder of the non-profit organisation called Slum Soccer, a football club. The club aims to support the underprivileged children who are interested in the sport.
Barse decided to set up the club after he witnessed a group of impoverished children play football with a makeshift ball. He was working as a sports teacher when he decided to form the club. The film’s plot is expected to follow Barse and his contributions. Bachchan will essay the role of the philanthropist in Jhund.
Though the movie was launched and began filming back in 2018, it had witnessed several hindrances regarding its release. The movie was wrapped up in 2019, after which the release was initially scheduled to be in May 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic changed their plans then, after which the makers decided to release it on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. Going forward, the team got caught up in a legal tangle, as they were accused of a copyright issue by a short film maker. After many obstacles, finally the movie is getting ready to get released in theatres now.
