Amitabh Bachchan on creating original content: ‘Many times, directors have dictated crew to silently record rehearsals’

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan clearly defines that age is just a number. Even at the age of 80, he continues to work in the world of showbiz. The megastar will next be seen in the film Project K opposite Deepika Padukone and Prabhas in the lead role.

His contribution to the Indian film industry has no bounds. With a career spanning over five decades, he has starred in more than 200 films.

Today, the senior Bachchan spoke about his experience of working in the industry and threw light on the importance of originals and working towards producing authentic content. But, in the process, did the makers of the film ever breach the privacy of the actor? Here’s what he wrote in his latest blog.

“So, yesterday at the shoot location, there was a doubt on whether the work done was within the acceptable limits of the director. When in doubt, you do it (record the scene) again... that granted, when you go back to the original (scene), you find that the earlier seemed better or perhaps in better condition of audience acceptance...” the actor said.

He goes on to add, “(I feel) Originals are originals... and accomplished enough to state that the one done originally was the better...”

“Many a times, directors have dictated to their crew silently to record rehearsals as well. As the artists rehearse a scene before the cameras go on... and I would tend to agree that the first take or the first attempt at the scene is perhaps always the best... We are never able to give a copy a better copy...and the original lives in our lives, undeterred and without any disturbance,” he says.

The Uunchai (2022) actor wraps up his point by stating that, “Do not ask me which one was my original because I shall not have knowledge of it... nor any remembrance...”

Bachchan will soon be hosting the popular reality TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
