Filmmaker Amit Sharma is eagerly looking forward to his upcoming theatrical, Maidaan. Here is what he said about Ajay Devgn’s role in the film.

Starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role, Maidaan is one of the most-awaited sports dramas of 2024. In the film, Ajay will portray the life of Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim between the period of 1952 and 1962. Recently, the posters and trailer of the entertainer were released which generated buzz for the film online. And now, filmmaker Amit Sharma has disclosed his favourite scene from the film with minute details. April 10 is the official release date of the film, which will coincide with the Eid festival.
In a chat with Pinkvilla recently, Maidaan director Amit Sharma heaped praises on Ajay Devgn’s acting skills. Recalling one of his most favourite scenes from the upcoming film, the filmmaker said, “The interval. Just before the interval, there is a performance by Ajay Devgn which is... oh my God...Asaan nahi hai woh scene shoot karna and perform karna. Toh jab aap picture dikhenge toh app samajh jaayenge ki main kis cheez ki baat kar raha hoon.”

“Ajay Devgn is just outstanding. In the scene I’m talking about, I naturally wanted Ajay ki aankh geeli ho jaaye lekin aasu na tapke. He is too good. (Ajay Devgn is just outstanding. In the scene I'm talking about, I naturally wanted Ajay's eyes to get moist but tears not to fall. He is too good.),” said Amit Sharma.
On March 23, the makers of Maidaan announced its release on April 10, coinciding with the release of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. This box-office clash can impact the collections of both films.

Ajay Devgn announced Maidaan's Eid release date on Instagram, with the caption, “Asli khiladi dikhenge, asli #Maidaan mein. Come, cheer and celebrate with us on 10th April, in cinemas only!” From the caption, one can assume that Ajay was taking a dig at Akshay Kumar, who is often called The Khiladi of Bollywood.
