Recently, he shared an update about the film, revealing that he has collaborated with a Hollywood studio to perfect the movie's soundscape. "Watching Barroz at Sony Studios Hollywood with Mark Kilian and Jonathan Miller for the fine-tuning of music and sound," said Mohanlal.
Barroz holds a special place in Mohanlal's career as it marks his directorial debut. This fantasy drama is not just any film; it's his dream project that he has been passionate about for a long time. Mohanlal is also seemingly going the extra mile to ensure that the movie gets a grand release worldwide.
The film is an adaptation of the novel by filmmaker-writer Jijo Punnoose with the same title. The narrative revolves around Barroz, a mythical character, who has been safeguarding Vasco da Gama’s treasure for over four centuries, awaiting the arrival of Gama's true successor.
Billed as a children's fantasy drama, Barroz promises to be a visual delight and will be presented in 3D. Besides directing it, Mohanlal has also essayed the lead role in it. It also stars Guru Somasundaram, Cesar Lorente Raton, Ignacio Mateos, and Kallirroi Tziafeta.
While Barroz was initially expected to hit cinemas last December, the release was delayed. The movie is reportedly gearing up for a worldwide release in late March.
