It was only a few days ago that TJ Gnanavel's Jai Bhim won the Best Film and Best Supporting Actor awards at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival. The movie, which dropped on Amazon Prime Video a few months ago, has now achieved a couple of more recognitions.

The Suriya-starrer has managed to bag Best Actress Award (Lijomol Jose) and Best Cinematography Award (SR Kathir) at the Boston International Film Festival. The social media handle of 2D Entertainment which bankrolled the movie announced the exciting news. Jai Bhim, which opened to positive response from critics and movie lovers alike, managed to secure many awards in the last few months.

The film was Suriya's second direct-to-OTT release after Soorarai Pottru which was directed by Sudha Kongara. Manikandan, Tamizh, Rajisha Vijayan, Guru Somasundaram, MS Bhaskar and Rao Ramesh among others play crucial characters in Jai Bhim which was based on a real-life incident which happened in the 90s.

Sean Roldan has composed music for the project which touched upon relevant topics while Philomin Raj handled the movie's editing. Despite garnering appreciation from several quarters, the movie faced criticism from a Tamil Nadu-based caste outfit. According to them, the makers of Jai Bhim portrayed their caste in poor light and staged protests.

Many celebs from Kollywood extended their support to team Jai Bhim when the outfit threatened the film's crew, especially Suriya. They even announced to hand over money for those who attack Suriya. Needless to say, their act was condemned by one and all.

Jai Bhim was one among the four films which were released on Amazon Prime Video as part of a four-film deal signed between the OTT platform and 2D Entertainment. Oh My Dog is the latest among the movies which was released recently.
