Amazon Prime's new slate of projects has made headlines as two films, Arabia Kadali and Matka King, have similar stories to that of Varun Tej's Matka and Naga Chaitanya's Thandel
Thandel and Matka
Amazon Prime Video is in the news as they announced their new slate of OTT projects at a grand event in Mumbai on March 20, 2024. Some big OTT as well as movie projects were announced and this has left actors Varun Tej and Naga Chaitanya in shock. Here's why...
Going into details, after announcing Naga Chaitanya's Dhoota 2, Amazon Prime revealed that a film titled Arabia Kadali will stream on their platform after its theatrical release. Now the twist here is that the stories of Arabia Kadali and Naga Chaitanya's new film, Thandel, are the same. The film is based on a group of fishermen getting lost in foreign waters and being arrested.

On the other hand, Amazon Prime also announced yet another project titled Matka King, featuring Vijay Varma as the lead. This new show has given the team of Varun Tej's Matka sleepless nights, as their film is also based on the same issue. Varun Tej plays a small-time gangster who starts a gambling business named Matka and gets big in the crime world.
As the stories are mostly the same, the teams of either project have landed in confusion. One of the sources close to both films, Thandel and Matka, reveals to us that the makers of these films are discussing the same and are a bit tense with their projects. Very soon, they are planning to meet the makers of these projects and clarify the confusion.
Varun Tej has been in this situation before, as his last film, Operation Valentine, had a similar story about the Pulwama attacks and ended as a massive flop. Matka is being directed by Karuna Kumar. Well, both of these films, Thandel and Matka, have completed half of their shoots and will be out in the second half of 2024. We need to see what will happen to these projects in the days to come.
