After teasing that The Wheel of Time will be out on Amazon Prime Video in November, the streaming platform has finally announced the premiere date. Yes, the pilot will be dropped on November 19, 2021, much to the excitement of the fans. Consisting of eight episodes, the makers will be releasing one episode every week which will go on till December 24, 2021. While announcing the premiere date, Amazon Prime Video unveiled a new poster featuring a demon in the first half.
While the second half of the poster has Rosamund Pike as an Aes Sedai named Moiraine joined by her entourage. The poster is captioned as "The Dark One is touching the pattern, but heroes will rise to meet him. #TheWheelofTime, Nov 19 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu."
The fantasy series is based on The Wheel of Time book series by Robert Jordan. The show is created by Rafe Judkins and also features Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Zoë Robins, Barney Harris, Madeleine Madden and Daniel Henney in supporting roles. Moreover, Money Heist's The Professor aka Álvaro Morte will be seen in a pivotal role as Logain Ablar.
Ahead of the series premiere, Amazon Prime Video has renewed The Wheel of Time for a second season. The first episode of the first season is titled Leavetaking and is directed by Uta Briesewitz. While the rest of the episodes are directed not only by Uta but also by Wayne Yip, Salli Richardson Whitfield and Ciaran Donnelly.
The Wheel of Time is set in a high fantasy world where magic exists, but only some can access it. A woman named Moiraine (Rosamund) crosses paths with five young men and women, which sparks a dangerous and world-spanning journey.
Meanwhile, Pike's last movie outing was I Care a Lot which was released in 2020. The actor bagged Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her performance.
