The actress shares how she couldn't resist gorging on Hyderabadi delicacies despite being a vegetarian for long
Modern Love, the Amazon Prime Video show based on popular daily NY Times' series by the same name, is gearing up for a Telugu adaptation set in Hyderabad. Modern Love Hyderabad, a six-episode anthology with Nagesh Kukunoor as a showrunner, releases on the streaming giant on July 8. Nithya Menen features in a short named My Unlikely Pandemic Dream Partner alongside Revathy in a short directed by Kukunoor himself. She opened up on her shoot experiences in an interaction recently.
My Unlikely Pandemic Dream Partner is a story of how food plays a catalyst in the relationship between a mother and a daughter who don't exactly get along well and a pandemic forces them to stay under the same roof for a longer duration than expected. Food is extremely integral to the story and it's a mouth watering prospect for the actors and viewers alike, more so when a show is set in Hyderabad and revolves around the regional delicacies.
Even a vegetarian like Nithya Menen couldn't resist changing her lifestyle choices for the Nagesh Kukunoor-directed short. Being a practicing vegetarian, Nithya was given the vegetarian versions of Hyderabadi delicacies prepared by a chef for the shoot. With so much Hyderabadi food around, she told them, "Just give me the chicken, I'll just eat it, it's fine, I have to look authentic. So literally, I keep telling them, they turned me a non-vegetarian. There was too much to eat."
This was a rare episode in the anthology where the cast and crew could afford to run to the dining tables to gorge on the Hyderabadi feast after the shot. The menu was equally tempting too, fromt the Dum biryani to Qubani-ka-Meetha, you name it and the delicacy was served. Modern Love Hyderabad's cast also comprises Suhasini Maniratnam, Naresh, Aadhi Pinisetty, Ritu Varma, Abijeet Duddala, Malavika Nair, Naresh Agastya and Ulka Gupta among others.
