Amazon has finalised the cast for the upcoming Lord of the Rings series with four newcomers joining this week
Amazon has finalised the cast for their upcoming Lord of the Rings series by adding four more actors to the roster. As per a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the latest additions to the cast include Will Fletcher (from The Girl Who Fell), Charles Edwards (from The Crown), Amelie Child-Villiers (from The Machine) and Beau Cassidy. Specific details on their characters are still under wraps.
The cast for the first season of the series currently has 39 actors. Even though the show is currently just known by the name Lord of the Rings series, the Amazon’s adaptation would not follow the same story as Peter Jackson’s movie trilogy. Instead, it is expected to take place elsewhere in Middle-earth mythology. It will reportedly adapt the Silmarillion and Fellow the Ring appendices and will be a prequel to the events that happened during the Second Age.
The upcoming series promises to take viewers back to an era when great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, little hope remained. It is also the time when the greatest villain of all time to take birth from Tolkien’s pen, threatened to cover the world in darkness. Apart from this mysterious yet interesting synopsis, nothing else is known about the Amazon series’ plot.
Filming for the series started back in January 2020, with the first two episodes being directed by J.A Bayona. Even though initially the series was scheduled for release in December 2021, COVID-19 has derailed the progress and currently there are also no details about the series’ release.
