Now, it looks like the film's OTT release has also been pushed a little later, given the film's fantastic theatrical run.

Amaran OTT release date delayed? Here’s why

Amaran is the recently released Tamil film, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles. The film is directed by filmmaker Rajkumar Periasamy, and produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International.

Following Amaran’s theatrical release on October 31 for Diwali, the film has been facing a fantastic run, with many raving about the film for its writing and performances. Based on the life of late Major Mukund Varadarajan who served the Indian Army at the 44th Rashtriya Rifles, Amaran shows the life of the late serviceman and his love story with his wife Indhu Rebecca Varghese.

While we had earlier mentioned that Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical rights of Amaran. As per reports, the film was planned to have an OTT release 28 days after its release. But given the film's success, looks like the streaming giant decided to push it by a week, and release it most likely on December 11. However, an OTT release date for Amaran is yet to be officially announced by Netflix. The buzz is that it is the first time, such a phenomenon is happening with a Tamil film.

Amaran – a commercial success

Amaran has been having a fantastic run at the box office, earning its producers a major success. As per the team, the film collected Rs 200 crores (gross) within ten days. Looks like the major financial success has boosted the theatre owners to run the film for little longer than expected, thus delaying the OTT release.

Amaran also earned exceptional reviews from critics. OTTplay review of the film reads, “With Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi at the fore delivering powerful performances, the beauty of Amaran is that it never wishes to be a heavy viewing. It is a film that carries all core emotions, and even some painful ones, yet manages to be light with its clean screenplay and subtle performances.”
