The Premam director was initially set to start work on Fahadh Faasil’s Paattu before the pandemic further delayed the film
It’s been seven years and counting since Alphonse Puthren’s previous release Premam, which was a blockbuster. While the filmmaker is currently busy with the post-production of his next film Gold, he recently took to his social media page to share that he wasn’t idle the past few years.
Replying to a user on his social media page, Alphonse said that he had worked on 25 projects in between Premam and Gold in the past seven years. “Had planned 25 other films. None of them worked out. Announce Paattu, but did Gold instead,” he wrote.
The filmmaker also shared an update on Gold, which has Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara in the lead. The film, which completed shooting last year, is a multi-starrer that also has Chemban Vinod Jose, Deepti Sati, Vinay Forrt, Lalu Alex, Saiju Kurup, Ajmal Amir, Deepti Sati, Roshan Mathew and Baburaj in pivotal roles, along with a few surprise cameos.
On the current status of the film, Alphonse wrote, “Final edit, CG works, poster design, music, sound design works are going on in full swing. We all are making it for you all with love and passion (sic).” The filmmaker, who has scripted the movie, is its editor, stunt choreographer and is also handling its VFX and animation.
The movie has been rumoured to be an Onam release. This however is yet to be officially confirmed. Gold is produced by Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames, who had also backed the star’s recent superhit Jana Gana Mana that will soon release on Netflix.
The production companies are also behind Prithviraj and Shaji Kailas’ upcoming ‘mass’ action entertainer Kaduva, which is expected to hit theatres on June 30. The movie, scripted by Jinu V Abraham, also has Vivek Oberoi, Samyuktha Menon, Rahul Madhav and Arjun Ashokan as part of the cast.
