Alone, which marks the duo first collaboration in over a decade, is a single-actor movie
Malayalam superstar-director combo Mohanlal and Shaji Kailas’ collaborations such as Narasimham and Aaram Thampuram have led to some of the biggest hits in the industry. So, it’s only natural that when the two team-up after over a decade for a movie, the expectations are sky high.
Though their latest venture Alone is limited in scope and scale compared to all of their previous films together, the film still promises to have enough hype going for it, considering that Shaji made a grand comeback after a hiatus with the superhit Kaduva, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, earlier this year.
While Alone was initially planned as an OTT release, the makers have now reworked the movie to ensure that it makes for a great theatrical experience when it hit cinema halls in December. According to reports, the movie is set to release on December 2. The film’s post-production works are currently on full-swing with Mohanlal completing his dubbing recently.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Mohanlal had said, “When I heard the story of Alone, I found it very interesting. It doesn’t have too many actors. It’s just me and so, we thought we could take the risk ourselves and produce the film.” The superstar also explained that the way the film is made and its purpose are interesting.
While it’s predominantly a single actor movie, the film also features the voices of Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Siddique and other popular actors through phone calls. Set during the lockdown, the film revolves around an UN personnel named Kalidasan who gets stranded in Kerala during his journey to Coimbatore.
Alone marks Mohanlal’s third theatrical release this year after B Unnikrishnan’s Aaraattu and Vysakh’s Monster – both not performing well at the box office. The actor is currently busy with Jeethu Joseph’s Ram, which will resume its shoot shortly in Morocco.
