The first edition of MasterChef Telugu, hosted by actress Tamannaah amidst the presence of three celebrity chefs Mahesh Padala, Chalapathi, Sanjay Thumma, is gradually making its presence felt across Telugu-speaking households. The Telugu version of the popular international show commenced its telecast on Gemini TV in the last weekend of August. The show welcomed its first celebrity guest, Allu Sirish, this weekend. He participated in a dosa flip challenge with the host Tamannaah and encouraged the participants across various rounds in the episode.
The participants, for a change, enjoyed two celebrities, Allu Sirish and Tamannaah, fighting it out for top honours, competing for the best dosa flip. Allu Sirish recovered from a false start to bounce back and win the challenge but chef Chalapathi, who evaluated both the dosas of the celebrities, said Tamannaah's dosa tasted better. Later, three contestants in the show, Kamal, Abdul and Sourabh, participated in an 'immunity pin' challenge, where they were asked to make a dish of their choice using eggs. Vaibhav ended up winning this round. It'll be revealed later how will this pin help Sourabh in the show.
Allu Sirish brought a lot of energy and enthusiasm into the show, sharing a warm camaraderie with the host and expressed his interest to return for another episode if given an opportunity. MasterChef Telugu, produced by Innovative Film Academy, is being shot at Innovative Film City, Bengaluru. The show, barring the exaggeration and its occasionally loud tone, has the potential to become a bigger brand in Telugu land. If only they chose a leading actor who was more familiar with Telugu, MasterChef Telugu would've had greater local appeal.
