Actor Allu Arjun, who was arrested and released in connection to the stampede incident that happened on the day of his film premiere Pushpa 2, addressed the media and said that he will legally cooperate and passed his condolences to the bereaving family.

Allu Arjun’s first words after release: I am law-abiding person

On the day of Pushpa 2 premiere, a 35-year-old woman died in a stampede that occurred in Sandhya Theatre during Allu Arjun’s visit. Subsequently, a case was filed and Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday. Following this, the actor was released from the Chanchalguda prison on an interim bail.

Speaking to the media gathered, Allu Arjun said, “I am safe, and doing well. I am fine and there is nothing to worry. I would also like to tell that I am law-abiding citizen, and will cooperate with them. Will do the needful. Very importantly I would like to give my condolences to the family. It is very, very unfortunate. We went to watch a film and there was an accident. It was totally unfortunate. We are always very sorry for whatever genuinely has happened.”

The actor also said that he has been a regular visitor to the theatre and have been watching his films and some of other films in the premises, and yet this type of incident had never occurred. Allu Arjun said that he will be extending full support for the family, and thanked everyone for supporting him.

Allu Arjun arrest: Lawyer says it was illegal detention

Allu Arjun was arrested Friday evening and remanded 14 days, before the Telangana High Court granted his interim bail. His lawyer Ashok Reddy said that despite the High Court's order to release, the actor was kept in detention and they will undertake a legal action.

Meanwhile, Pushpa 2 has been minting big numbers at the box office, and has crossed the 1000-crore mark worldwide. The film has collected over Rs 750 crore in India during its 9-day run so far.
