Amazon Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer of All the Old Knives, based on the book of the same name by Olen Steinhauer who has also adapted it for the screen.
Starring in the lead are Chris Pine, Thandiwe Newton, Laurence Fishburne and Jonathan Pryce.
The trailer shows Henry and Celia’s awkward reunion but for a work mission. “I thought you’re here to see if we still have that old spark,” says Celia. Then the clip, set to an anxious classical piece, progresses to the hijack of a plane, which they suspect was the work of someone within the CIA, and that could in all likelihood be Celia. There are montages of tense moments and stunning revelations. From this first look, All the Old Knives seems to have all the trappings of a big-screen blockbuster.
Here is the official synopsis provided by Amazon: “When the CIA discovers one of its agents leaked information that cost more than 100 people their lives, veteran operative Henry Pelham (Pine) is assigned to root out the mole from among his former officemates at the agency’s Vienna station. His investigation takes him from Austria to England to California, where he is reunited with his one-time colleague and ex-lover Celia Harrison (Newton). The pair are forced to blur the lines between profession and passion in this riveting tale of global espionage, moral ambiguity, and deadly betrayal.”
Pine has been a part of the Star Trek franchise, Princess Diaries 2 and Wonder Woman 1987. Meanwhile, Newton has starred in Westworld, The Pursuit of Happyness and Solo: A Star Wars Story. All the Old Knives is directed by Janus Metz, who has helmed the war documentary Armadillo, and also an episode of True Detective Season 2.
All the Old Knives will premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video on April 8.
