Filmmaker Shankar was recently involved in a legal tussle with the popular banner Lyca Productions over Kamal Haasan's Indian 2

Acclaimed director Shankar's much-anticipated Telugu debut, featuring Ram Charan Tej in the lead, bankrolled by top Telugu producer Dil Raju, was announced amidst much fanfare in 2020. However, not much progress was made on the project in the later months owing to the filmmaker's legal tussle with Lyca Productions over the delay with the filming of Indian 2 (starring Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet and Siddharth) besides the second wave of COVID-19 in 2021. Now that the court has dismissed Lyca's petition to prevent Shankar from filming any project before the completion of Indian 2, the makers of his next Telugu project have heaved a sigh of relief.

Actor Ram Charan and producer Dil Raju met filmmaker Shankar in Chennai to discuss the progress of the big-budget multilingual project over the previous weekend. The former even went onto call it a 'fabulous day' and thanked the filmmaker and his family for being 'great' hosts. There are a few speculations that the lead actor would be playing a cop in the same and that the film would resemble the director's blockbuster political drama Mudhalvan (that starred Arjun in the lead). Kiara Advani is slated to play the female lead in the same.

Ram Charan will wrap up his portions for Rajamouli's RRR by August and is expected to shoot for Shankar's project in September. Apart from this, the director has also given his nod to direct the Hindi remake of his super-hit action entertainer Anniyan starring Ranveer Singh in the lead and produced by Pen Entertainments that'll commence in 2022.
