The Netflix original feature will begin filming by mid-May.
Alia Bhatt is currently reaping the success of her film, Gangubai Kathiawadi, which was released on Netflix recently. The film has been trending on the top 10 on the streaming platform in many countries and has been receiving a lot of positive reviews after its successful theatrical run. And now, the actor is gearing up for the filming of her big Hollywood debut project, Heart of Stone with Gal Gadot.
The Student of the Year actor is currently wrapping up the shoot of Karan Johar's directorial, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. According to Pinkvilla, Alia will then take off to the UK in the middle of this month to begin filming for her Hollywood debut. The project is a Netflix original and will also star Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan.
A source close to the development told the entertainment portal that Alia will fly to the UK after completing the shoot of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which is at the final leg. The actor has a marathon schedule for the yet-to-be-titled spy thriller. "She would be shooting for this Tom Harper directorial from May till the end of August,” said the source adding that the actor is very excited to go global with her Hollywood debut. The drama is expected to have its premiere in 2023.
Alia has a busy schedule this year. After completing the shoot of her Hollywood project, she will go on a girl's trip for Farhan Akhtar's movie Jee Le Zara. The source further revealed that she will begin shooting for the film in September. The film, directed by Akhtar, will also feature Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif. The film will be shot across India unlike Akhtar's earlier travel film, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara with Hrithik Roshan and Abhay Deol, which was shot in international locations.
Once she returns, Alia will complete some patch work scenes of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film has been scheduled to release on Valentine’s Day next year. And, seems like it is not it. After completing all these commitments, she will then be reuniting with her favourite director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, for the film Baiju Bawra. She will be starring alongside Ranveer Singh again in this musical, said the source.
Alia also has her production debut film, Darlings, in the pipeline, which is a direct-to-OTT release. The film, also starring Bhatt with Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew in the lead roles will have its premiere on Netflix.
