Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif also play prominent roles in the Farhan Akhtar-directed movie.
It's been nearly a year since Farhan Akhtar announced his upcoming directorial Jee Le Zaraa. In this all-female cast film, the filmmaker-actor cracked a casting coup by roping in Priyanka Chopra, Jonas, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt in the leading roles. Since the movie has been announced, fans' patience has been tested every now and then for various reasons. It was reported that the film has been put on the back burner or shelved for now.
Now, at Film Companion Front Row, Bhatt assures fans that Jee Le Zaraa is happening and they will not let go of the film, no matter what. The actor stated, "It's happening. Of course, it's happening. We go on floors next year. Obviously, we can't go on floors this year (citing her pregnancy). But listen, we ain't letting that film go. We have been fighting for it and we are all too excited. It's going to be quite massive, and we can't wait."
Bhatt also spoke about Jee Le Zaraa earlier by stating that being on a movie set with Katrina, Priyanka, and herself, she believes it could be a little different. Similar to how she is certain that the travel and experience will be entirely different, they are being led by Farhan. Therefore, that energy will be a little more thrilling. The dynamic play is made more enjoyable by the fact that he is directing a movie with three ladies, while Zoya Akhtar directed a movie with three guys, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara.
The film was announced in 2021, on the occasion of Dil Chahta Hai completing two decades of its release.
With Jee Le Zaraa Farhan will return to direction after 12 long years, as his last outing as a helmer was the Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka starrer Don 2. Jee Le Zaraa was set to be a 2023 release as of right now.
