The politician had said that legal suit for compensation has been finalised and he will be suing Akshay Kumar and Karma Media
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy took to his Twitter page to announce that he will be suing Akshay Kumar and production firm Karma Media for inaccurately portraying the Ram Setu issue in their films, helmed by Abhishek Sharma and Vishal Chaturvedi, respectively.
The politician took to Twitter to say that he will be seeking compensation for the damages and is “suing Akshay Kumar and Karma Media”. Swamy had also posted copies of the SC order from 2007 that have apparently been used as part of the poster for the movie Setu, which is produced by Karma Media. Swamy’s lawyer Satya Sabharwal had shared the poster as well as order, and tweeted that they will be filing a suit against the producers.
Meanwhile, Akshay’s film titled Ram Setu, which is produced by Cape of Good Films, Abundantia Entertainment, Amazon Prime Video and Lyca Productions, is an action-adventure film that also has Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha as part of its cast.
Responding to comments that flooded his Twitter feed citing that Akshay has Canadian citizenship, Swamy said if the actor is a foreign citizen “then we can ask he be arrested and evicted (from) his adopted country”.
The movie, which is directed by Abhishek Sharma, is currently set for a theatrical release on October 2022. The Diwali release is touted to be a film “rooted to India’s culture and heritage” and has the Samrat Prithviraj actor essaying the role of an archaeologist who sets on an adventure to investigate whether the myth behind the story of it being built by Ram’s army to rescue Sita is a myth or has any connection to reality.
The film, which began shooting in November 2020, wrapped up its principal photography earlier this year. Samrat Prithviraj’s director Chandraprakash Dwivedi reportedly served as the creative producer of the film, which is a blend of “facts, science and Indian heritage”, said its co-producer Vikram Malhotra.
