Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan gets a release date, Bhumi Pednekar announces on social media site

The Aanand L. Rai directorial is set to have a theatrical release.

The Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer film Raksha Bandhan has finally got a release date. Aanand L Rai’s much-anticipated film has been scheduled for a theatrical release on August 11, 2022. The film also features Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb and Smrithi Srikanth, who can be seen portraying the characters of the Khiladi actor’s sisters in the movie.

Bhumi took to Instagram to make the announcement. She shared her post from last month, where she is seen tripling with Akshay and the filmmaker Aanand, while the caption on the story reads, “11th August 2022 #Rakshabandhan”

The story of Raksha Bandhan has been written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon. It is being produced by three different production houses, one of them being Colour Yellow Productions, founded by the filmmaker himself.

Aanand also informed the audience about the release date of the film by sharing a post by his production company. The Instagram post reads, “Aanand L Rai’s #RakshaBandhan starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar to release in theatres on 11th August 2022 - Independence Day weekend. Directed by Aanand L Rai and written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon, the film is produced by Colour Yellow Productions, Zee Studios, Alka Hiranandani in association with Cape Of Good Films. (sic)”

The release date of Raksha Bandhan will clash with that of another highly-anticipated film Adipurush. Based on a mythological epic Ramayana that stars Prabhas in the titular character, Adipurush stars Kriti Sanon as Sita and Saif Ali Khan as the popular antagonist character called Lankesh (Raavan).
