Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Raniganj makes its journey to the Oscars; here's how

The Tinu Suresh Desai-directed film Mission Raniganj is likely to benefit at the box office on National Cinema Day.

Mission Raniganj after opening to abysmal numbers on its release day, is growing slowly and gradually at the box office. The film featuring Akshay Kumar in the leading role is solely dependent on word-of-mouth, which has slightly benefited the film by creating some noise among the cinegoers. On the occasion of National Cinema Day (October 13), the makers have drawn in anticipation of the film's enormous acclaim. Thus, they have made an interesting move by submitting Mission Raniganj independently to the Academy Awards.

Filmmakers' confidence:

Reports suggest that the Mission Raniganj team appears to have all the resources necessary to make a film as moving as their story; thus, the same is guaranteed now that the filmmakers have submitted the picture themselves for Academy Award consideration. The film is based on the true story of coal miners who were trapped in an unthinkable situation and saved thanks to the brave act of a hero, Jaswant Singh Gill, so the choice is both astute and consequential.

Filmmakers Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Ajay Kapoor said their movie will show how the 2010 coal mine disaster affected the entire country. Tinu Suresh Desai is the film's director. Parinee ti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Sharma, Gaurav Prateek, Virendra Saxena, Saanand Verma, Shishir Sharma, Ananth Mahadevan, Aarif Zakaria, Jameel Khan, Sudhir Pandey, Bachan Pachera, Mukesh Bhatt, and Omkar Das Manikpuri play supporting roles in the latest film.

Meanwhile, as per Box Office India, the opening week for Mission Raniganj only brought in a meagre Rs. 18.25 crore nett. The last nine to twelve months at the box office have sent very strong messages about what the audience wants to watch, especially when it comes to major actors. Since Saturday and Sunday were always expected to have stronger collections, film will have a stable second weekend thanks to National Cinema Day, but after Monday there won't be much to come.
