Akshay Kumar, who had five releases in 2022, had only one theatrical release, Selfiee in the first six months of this year. The actor's upcoming film is Oh My God 2, which is hitting the big screens in August this year. However, Akshay is known for having multiple releases in a year, and during an interview, he spoke about how he processes negative feedback from critics and the masses.

The actor told Financial Express that in his life, he has experienced countless ebbs and flows. The one constant is that everyone sings the praises when things are going well but criticises relentlessly when things go south. Being human means that good feels good and bad feels horrible, but Akshay takes great pride in his ability to rapidly overcome negative emotions and move on. The same drive he had on his first day of work is what keeps him going today. The actor loves his job. That's his, and no one's taking it away from him! There is no other option but to keep going. There is a higher force that takes note of everything, and it multiplies and returns to you the fruits of one's honest labour. That’s how Akshay handles things, anyway.

When asked what it is about a script at this point in his career that makes him want to do a project, the actor stated that he does whatever it is that inspires him to play this role, and that's all there is to it.

Akshay continued by saying that the film's box office performance—or, to put it simply, hits and flops—determines its fate and whether it bothers him. If a film fails to perform well at the box office, it's because viewers didn't feel a connection to the story, and that disconnect is mirrored in the film's overall reception. In other words, now is the time to make some adjustments, which the actor believes they, as a whole industry, are aiming to do.
