Akshay Kumar is a war hero in his upcoming film, ‘Gorkha’
The Bellbottom star joins hands with Aanand L Rai for the third time in a year for the upcoming biopic of Major General Ian Cardoza

Akshay Kumar is currently on a roll, busy with quite a number of movies lined up for release this year and others in various stages of production. In fact, his next will see him as an army man yet again, as he slips into the shoes of Major General Ian Cardozo for an upcoming biopic titled Gorkha.
Gorkha is touted to shine light on the life of Major General Ian Cardozo, a legendary officer who served the regiment of Gorkha of the Indian Army. The poster that came out recently featured the ‘Rustom’ star looking fierce in the uniform, while wielding a machete. The biopic is all set to be helmed by National Award-winner Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan.
The upcoming biopic Gorkha is also a tribute to celebrate the 75th year of India’s independence. The makers, Cape of Good Films and Colour Yellow Productions have released statements that they are filled with pride to bring the story of sacrifice by the legendary hero to the screen.
Major General Ian Cardozo was a brave hero who fought during the years of 1962 and 1965. His bravado was noted during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971 that also went down in the history books. Filled with pride to depict the Major General’s life, Akshay Kumar decided to present it himself.
Producer Aanand L Rai in an official statement expressed his gratitude towards representing the war hero in Gorkha. He lauded Major General Ian Cardozo’s immense courage in the Indo-Pak war. “I am also excited to work with Akshay sir again for the third time,” he said.
Himanshu Sharma, who is also bankrolling Gorkha along with the ‘Raanjhanaa’ director, expressed his eagerness in bringing out the courageous life of the war hero in the upcoming war-biopic. He hopes that the movie will inspire many.
Major General Ian Cardozo, the war legend himself shared certain information on his upcoming biopic. He revealed that he was filled with honour that his life-story is being brought to the screen on the 50th anniversary of the 1971 war. “I look forward to working with Anand and Akshay as they bring this to life,” he said. He also mentioned that Gorkha is bound to reflect the spirit and bravado of every officer in the Indian Army.
More information on the upcoming Akshay Kumar starrer, Gorkha is yet to be announced.
