Akshay Kumar's film Tirangaa will be reportedly directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. Here's when their film is expected to go on floors.
In August, producer Narendra Hirawat confirmed he is producing a film featuring Akshay Kumar as the lead. However, he denied the speculation that their film Tirangaa was a remake of the 1993 film of the same name. The latest development on Tirangaa is that the film has got a director to helm the film. Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, who helmed Lahore and 72 Hoorain, is the captain of the ship for Akshay's film. Additionally, a media portal has reported when the film will go on floors.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Tirangaa's producers along with Akshay Kumar felt that Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan would be the right fit to direct the film.
"The producers of the film – Ashvin Varde, Subhash Kale, and Narendra Hirawat – along with Akshay Kumar realized that Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan will be an apt choice to handle a film like this and give it the required commercial treatment. This is how the acclaimed director came on board," a source told the entertainment portal. The report further suggests the film is expected to go on floors by December 2024.
For the uninitiated, Sanjay's films Lahore and 72 Hoorain won National Awards. The filmmaker also worked as one of the writers for Ranveer Singh's film 83.
Earlier, in a statement to the same portal, producer Narendra Hirawat dismissed the speculation of Akshay's film being a remake of the 1993 film Tirangaa. The producer mentioned, "It is a completely new and original script. An official announcement regarding the same will be made soon."
Meanwhile, on the work front, Akshay had three film releases this year. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was Kumar's first big theatrical release of 2024. It was followed by his film Sarfira with Radhikka Madan released in theatres. Last month, Akshay's movie Khel Khel Mein hit the silver screen. He also made a special appearance in Stree 2.
