Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was recently asked about the release date of his highly anticipated film Oh My God 2 (OMG 2), and the actor revealed a few crucial details pertaining to the movie.
Akshay Kumar's last release, Raksha Bandhan may not have worked at the box office but that did not stop the actor from putting up an impressive show at the trailer launch of his upcoming thriller Cuttputlli which is set to release on Disney + Hotstar.
On Saturday, during the trailer launch of the intense psychological thriller Cuttputlli which is the official Hindi remake of Tamil movie Ratsasan, Akshay Kumar was asked if the rumour about OMG 2 releasing on October 2 is true or not.
To which, Akshay candidly replied saying that the source of the information is "wrong", and added, "Pehli baat hain ki October 2 ko Oh My God toh bilkul nahi ayega...aapke sutron ne galat bataya (First of all, Oh My God is most certainly not releasing on October 2 of this year. Your source has given you a wrong update)." Akshay Kumar put all the release-date rumours to rest once and for all.
When the conversation moved to his latest family drama Raksha Bandhan tanking at the box office, Akshay Kumar was quick to take responsibility for the failure of the film and said that he needs to understand what the audience wants and make films accordingly.
"... It is our fault, my fault. I have to make changes, understand what the audience wants and there is nobody else to be blamed for it but me," said Akshay, according to a news report by Pinkvilla.
Raksha Bandhan has made 38 crore at the box office as of today, reports the same news article, and it regarded as Akshay Kumar's least-grossing movies in recent times.
For the unversed, starring Akshay Kumar as the lead, alongside Paresh Rawal, the late Om Puri, Mithun Chakraborty and Sonakshi Sinha, Oh My God is a 2012 social satire that went on to become a massive hit back in the day. The films songs such as Govinda and Mere Nishaan went on to become chartbusters, too.
As for Cuttputlli the film is releasing on Disney + Hotstar on September 2.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar has a wide range of film projects under production, which include Ram Setu, OMG2, Selfiee, Capsule Gill, Gorkha, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Untitled Soorarai Pottru Remake and Khel Khel Mein among others.
