A still from Valimai
Ajith fans continue to wait for makers of AK 62 to come up with an update amid news doing the rounds that an official announcement on the project will be made in March. The team's plan is to release the movie on Deepavali, but fans are eager to know if the untitled film being bankrolled by Lyca Productions would be completed in a few months' time.
It was heard that the movie was launched officially a few days ago, though no still from the event has been released. Magizh Thirumeni is likely to be helming the film.
Fans of the star are now celebrating Valimai, which was directed by H Vinoth, on social media. The action film was released a year ago and they are posting pics and videos from the project with the hashtag #1YearOfBlockBusterVALIMAI. It marked the second collaboration of Ajith, Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor.
The movie, which was released in huge numbers of screens in February, opened to record numbers on day one and went on to collect around 200 crores at the box office from across the world. The stunning action episodes choreographed by Dhilip Subbarayan was one of the highlights of the film.
Huma Qureshi, Achyuth Kumar and Kartikeya among others played pivotal roles in the movie which had songs and background score composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and Ghibran respectively. The announcement on Ajith's latest film Thunivu was unofficially made before the release of Valimai, thus elevating the hype surrounding the latter.
While Valimai dropped on Zee5 after almost a month's release in 2022, Thunivu started streaming on Netflix even before it completed a month's run in theatres.
