After the release of Ajay Devgn’s period war film Bhuj: The Pride of India, the actor met India’s defence Minister Rajnath Singh and took the news to his social media handles. “Honoured to meet the Honourable Minister of Defence, India, Shri Rajnath Singh ji. He saw some clips of Bhuj: The Pride of India. For me, it was a befitting platform to showcase the film that captured India’s victory over Pakistan 50 years ago. Jai Hind”, the actor wrote in his caption by sharing a picture of himself and the minister.
The film, helmed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, portrays India’s victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Ajay Devgn plays the role of IAF Squadron leader Vijay Karnik, the incharge of the Bhuj airport then who rebuilt the IAF airbase with the help of 300 women from the local villages during the wartime.
The movie was released on August 13 on Disney+Hotstar, two days before India celebrates its 75th Independence day. The actor called his meeting with the defence minister a great one and this was the right thing to do. “We wanted him to see the film to show where we have reached technically,” said the Singham actor in a statement with ANI.
He also spoke about the movie and hailed it as the ‘beautiful story’ portraying the ‘beautiful sacrifices’ of the forces. The actor also shared his experience wearing the army uniform and said he felt pride and dignity while wearing it.
Later. the defence minister Rajnath Singh also shared the news of the meeting in his tweet that read, “Met with renowned Hindi film actor @ajaydevgn today.” He further added in the tweet that Ajay Devgn is a wonderful actor and human being, hailing his efforts to depict the heroic efforts of the Indian Armed Forces during the 1971 war. The minister wished him success and the actor retweeted by thanking him on behalf of the movie team.
