Singham actor Ajay Devgn opened up about his digital debut, Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, during a virtual event on Tuesday. He opined that content is the important factor for an actor, and not the medium. The crime-drama series, which will be released on Disney+Hotstar VIP, will have Rajesh Mapuskar of Ferrari Ki Sawaari fame at the helm.
Speaking about the project, Ajay Devgn said, “We really want people to see our work and appreciate it. Digital space is so huge today and it is growing further. Its reach is tremendous and there is great content as well. That’s what excited me. It doesn’t matter where you do, it’s all about what you do.”
He added that the reason behind doing the show is to reinvent himself with diverse roles to entertain the audience."Rudra: The Edge of Darkness is bigger than anything I’ve done before. As an actor, I have always believed in reinventing myself with varied roles to provide entertainment to the viewers, and I am thrilled to embrace a new form of storytelling with Disney+ Hotstar," said the actor during the event.
He further added, "The scale and design of the project has been maintained, the way it ought to be. It’s not forced - it doesn't take away the essence of the show - so there was no apprehension about saying yes.”
Rudra, he believes, is a well-written show which is gritty and realistic. “I think the character will work for me as I was impressed with the grey shades it has. Nobody wants to watch a nice guy, while controversies go on and on," Ajay added.
