Did you know Ajay Devgn popped the question to Kajol while shooting for Ishq? Here's what the actor said

It's been nearly 25 years since Ajay Devgn and Kajol got married. The couple tied the knot on February 24, 1999. Interestingly, in his recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the Singham actor revealed when he proposed marriage to his now wife. On Kajol's anniversary celebration of Ishq, Ajay quoted something that is a lesser-known fact about the couple.

The actor wrote, "Wasn’t this the film where I proposed to you with your own ring?"

Well, it seems like Ajay proposed marriage to Kajol back in 1996–97 when they were shooting for Ishq. That's quite a revelation and a sweet touch to their almost three-decade-long relationship.

Ajay and Kajol have worked together in films, namely Hulchul (1995), Gundaraj (1995), Ishq (1997), Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha (1998), Dil Kya Kare (1999), Raju Chacha (2000), U Me Aur Hum (2008), Toonpur Ka Superrhero (2010), and Tanhaji (2020).

Kajol on marriage and family reservations

Earlier, on Neha Dhupia's podcast, Kajol revealed her marriage plans with Ajay and how many were against them. The actor stated, "Nobody wanted us to get married besides his family and my family. My family was also iffy. My dad (late filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee) didn’t talk to me for a week when I told him I wanted to get married. He was just like, ‘Why do you want to get married? You’re so young and your career is doing so well,’ and I was like, ‘But I want to get married!’ Ajay and I were very different people, so lots of people had reservations as to what we would be like as a couple, and we were not very social even then. Not a lot of people had met us together or knew what we were like together."

Meanwhile, the film Ishq directed by Indra Kumar, featured Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla Mehta in the lead roles.
