The film will be directed by M Shashidhar and produced by Ravi Raj
While a couple of Hindi-film actors Dino Morea, Sharman Joshi forayed into Telugu cinema with Agent and Music School this year, there’s another popular addition to this ever-growing list. Shreyas Talpade is all set to make his Telugu debut with a film titled Ajagratha. The film to be directed by M Shashidhar and produced by Ravi Raj went on floors in Hyderabad today.
Radhika Kumaraswamy, actress and the better half of Karnataka politician Kumaraswamy Goud, plays the female lead in the film. Ajagratha marks her return to Telugu cinema after a nine-year-long sabbatical (she was part of Bhadradri Ramudu, Avatharam). Captioned ‘Shadows Behind The Darkness’, the film will be simultaneously made in Kannada as well, reports suggest.
Rao Ramesh, Sunil, Aditya Menon, Raghavendra Shravan, Jay Prakash, Vinaya Prasad and Devraj will play other important roles in the film. The pooja ceremony of Ajagratha was graced by several notable personalities from the Telugu film fraternity. While AM Ratnam sounded the clapboard, Tagore Madhu switched on the camera for the first shot.
Ajagratha is believed to be a psychological action thriller. Sandeep Valluri will crank the camera for the film whose music score will be composed by Shri Hari. Ravi Verma is the stunt choreographer. Yadhav is the executive producer. Other details of the thriller will be out soon. Adithya Menon, Sravan were other notable names who attended the pooja ceremony.
Shreyas Talpade was in the news a year ago as he dubbed for Allu Arun’s titular character in his action entertainer Pushpa. He made his acting debut with Aankhen in 2002 and has acted in several popular Hindi and Marathi films over the years. Prior to his film debut, he had a long stint in television as well. His Ajagratha co-star Radhika is quite a popular name in Kannada and was part of a few Tamil films too.
