R Kannan has directed the Tamil remake of the Malayalam original,
Aishwarya Rajesh in a still from the film
Mollywood film The Great Indian Kitchen, which was released in 2021, was one of the most-appreciated works across the country. The movie directed by Jeo Baby has Suraj Venjaramoodu and Nimisha Sajayan essaying lead roles in it. The film which touched upon various relevant issues went on to bag many awards and won critical acclaim, too.
Many film buffs were surprised when a Tamil remake of the successful movie was announced. R Kannan, who last directed Thalli Pogathey, is at the helm of the remake which will be released under the same title. Aishwarya Rajesh and Rahul Ravindran will be seen essaying lead roles in the project.
The first and second looks of the movie were released a few months ago. The makers are yet to come up with details of its other cast members. An announcement on its release date, too, is awaited, though there are reports that The Great Indian Kitchen will release in theatres later this year.
The film has now bagged U/A certificate from the Censor Board without any cuts. The news has been announced along with a new poster which features Aishwarya Rajesh.
Balasubramaniem has cranked the camera for the project which has editing by Leo John Paul. Jerry Silvester Vincent is composing music for the movie which has art direction by Rajkumar and lyrics by Kabilan Vairamuthu. Savari and Jeevitha Suresh Kumar have jointly penned dialogues for the film.
Produced by Durgaram Choudhary and Neel Choudhary under RDC Media, the Tamil remake went on floors earlier last year. The Malayalam version was first released on the platform Neestream. After garnering positive response from several quarters, the film started streaming on Amazon Prime Video as well.
