Director Mari Selvaraj, who is expecting the release of his upcoming fourth directorial Vaazhai, recently gave an update about his film with actor Dhruv Vikram. The film, titled Bison, is a sports drama based on kabbadi player.
We had earlier reported that director Mari Selvaraj will be doing a film with actor Dhruv Vikram. Titled Bison, the film is touted to be a sports drama revolving around the sports of kabbadi. Speaking on the sidelines of Vaazhai event, Mari Selvaraj gave an update on the progress of Bison. The film has completed about 70 percent of shooting, with about 25-30 days of left. After the release of Vaazhai, the director will resume his works for shooting for the film, Mari Selvaraj said.
While reports stated that the film will be a biopic on Manathi Ganesan, the filmmaker had denied that and said Bison will be completely a fictional film. Others part of the cast include Anupama Parameswaran, Lal, Pasupathy, Kalaiyarasan, Rajisha Vijayan, Hari Krishnan, Azhagam Perumal and Aruvi Madhan among others.
Applause Entertainment and Pa Ranjith's Neelam Productions are backing the film. This marks the second collaboration of Ranjith and Mari Selvaraj after Pariyerum Perumal. Bison will have music scored by Nivas K Prasanna and be shot by cinematographer Ezhil Arasu. The edits are handled by Sakthikumar. Bison is yet to get a release date.

Vaazhai is Mari Selvaraj’s fourth film. The film is said to be based on true events that took place in the director’s life. Starring Ponvel M, Raghul R, Kalaiyarasan, Nikhila Vimal, J Sathish Kumar, Dhivya Duraisamy, Janaki, and others, the film is set to release on August 23 in theatres.
The technical crew consists of cinematographer Theni Eswar and editor Suriya Pradhaman. Santhosh Narayanan has scored the music for the film. Vaazhai is presented by the banners Disney+ Hotstar, Navvi Studios, and Farmer’s Master Plan Production, with Red Giant Movies releasing it.
