Kiccha Sudeep in Max

Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep’s latest, Max, has him returning to play a cop, something he’s done to great effect. The film, directed by debutant Vijay Kartikeyaa, follows a story that takes place on one night, between 7 pm and 7 am, with Sudeep as a hot-headed cop called Arjun Mahakshay, nicknamed Max, who is set to report back to duty after a suspension, when his station comes under attack and he has to pull out every trick in his hat to defend his territory.

Max is set to release in theatres on December 25. Here’s a look at a few other Kiccha Sudeep films that had him in cop mode

Tirupathi

The 2006 Shivamani directorial was Sudeep’s first as a cop. He played the title character ACP Thirupathi, who is tasked with getting to the bottom of the murder of district commissioner Margaret (Sudharani), who had ruffled a few feathers, when she cancelled an illegal construction.

Hubballi

Sudeep was a police officer in director Om Prakash Rao’s 2006 film Hubballi. The action-thriller, which paired Sudeep with Rakshita, had the actor as ACP Ajay Kumar Sarnayak, an honest cop who has to avenge his sister’s death and deadly attack on himself.

Veera Madakari

The remake of the Telugu hit Vikramarkadu was directed by Sudeep, and had him in two roles – a conman and an honest cop. He was paired with Ragini Dwivedi, in the film in which the conman is forced to take on the cop’s avatar.

Kempe Gowda

Sudeep directed the remake of the Tamil hit Singam and played the title role, Inspector Kempe Gowda, a much-loved cop, who is transferred to Bengaluru, at the behest of a gangster called Arumugham (P Ravi Shankar).

Vikrant Rona

Sudeep’s maiden collaboration with Rangitaranga maker Anup Bhandari was a film set in the same universe, where he played a cop who lands in Kamarottu, seeking answers to the mysterious disappearance of young children in the village.
