The movie marks Aamir's return to the silver screen after almost four years,
A still from the film
With just a week away for the release of Advait Chandan's Laal Singh Chaddha in theatres, fans of Aamir Khan and other film buffs are elated as the movie marks the actor's return to the silver screen after almost four years. Vijay Krishna Acharya's big budget action movie Thugs of Hindostan was the star's last outing.
It is heard that Laal Singh Chaddha's OTT premiere will happen only after six months of its theatrical release. Most of the movies today release on OTT platforms between four weeks and six weeks post their theatrical release. This trend of sudden digital premiere is also considered as one of the reasons why many films are facing poor footfall in theatres.
During one of the promotional events of the film, the Bollywood superstar acknowledged the same. He said, "I think that one of the major reasons for a comparatively low turnout in movie halls is because films drop on OTT avenues quickly. That's the reason I have always maintained a six month gap for my movies."
He also added that he would like to stick to this plan irrespective of what the industry follows. Movie buffs are now waiting to know if Aamir will be able to pull off the same this time, too.
The star has been promoting his project aggressively. Unlike his earlier releases, he spent some time with some of the superstars in south film industries like Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna as part of promotional activities.
Laal Singh Chaddha will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on August 11 and will take on Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan at the box office. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Kiran Rao and Viacom18 Studios, Laal Singh Chaddha, which is the official remake of Forrest Gump, stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh in key roles.
