aha has added yet another entry to its growing list of non-scripted TV content. The streaming platform announced a new reality singing competition, Telugu Indian Idol.
The announcement was made by aha on its official social media handles. The post included a short clip revealing the title, which featured the familiar music and logo of the popular singing competition. The Telugu playback singer and the winner of season 9 of Indian Idol, L. V. Revanth was also tagged.
The aha version of the show is a regional spin-off of the show, which airs on the Sony Entertainment Television channel. The Hindi language show, which started in 2004, is the Indian version of the British reality show titled Pop Idol. The popular singing competition has also spawned spin-offs such as Indian Idol Junior. The original Indian Idol has aired over 12 seasons. Neha Kakkar and Bhoomi Trivedi are some popular singers who appeared as contestants on the show.

Telugu Indian Idol will mark the foray of the competition series into south India. In a press release, aha announced that auditions for aspiring singers who want to take part in the show would be conducted in both online as well as offline modes. While the offline auditions would start on December 19, online auditions would commence from December 26 onwards. Telugu Indian Idol will premiere exclusively on aha. A release date is yet to be announced.
