A still from Agilan
Jayam Ravi, who is gearing up for the release of the much-awaited Ponniyin Selvan 2 on April 28, will have another outing a little earlier. Agilan, which has N Kalyana Krishnan at its helm, was initially supposed to hit the screens on September 15, two weeks before Ponniyin Selvan 1.
But the makers decided to postpone the release owing to reasons best known to them. The team never came up with an update on its release thereafter. They have now surprised the audience by unveiling a new poster of the movie which also has its release date mentioned.
The action drama has been scheduled for a release on March 10. The movie bankrolled by Screen Scene has Ravi playing an aggressive man who controls various illegal businesses surrounding a harbour. The project marks his reunion with director Kalyana Krishnan after Boologam.
Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the female lead in the film which has Hareesh Peradi, Dheena, Tanya Ravidhandran and Tarun Arora essaying notable roles. Sam CS has composed music for Agilan which has cinematography handled by Vivek Anand and editing by N Ganesh Kumar. Eswar Babu and Sherif have choreographed dance scenes while Miracle Michael has helmed stunt sequences.
With just a couple of weeks away from the release, fans are curious to know how makers are planning to promote Agilan in the coming days.
Ravi is likely to have more than two releases in 2023. He has completed Ahmed's Iraivan and is shooting for Antony Bhagyaraj's Siren and Rajesh's JR 30 (tentative title). The pending portions of his temporarily stalled project Jana Gana Mana with Ahmed is yet to be wrapped up.
