Akhil Akkineni's Agent has been waiting for its OTT release for the longest time. The film has once again been postponed on OTT. Read this new to know why
Agent is a film that had to click at any cost as Akhil Akkineni was going through a lot in his career and needed a hit under his belt. So, he chose Surender Reddy who was high on the success of Sye Raa to give him a hit. Well, the duo teamed up with producer Anil Sunkara to make Agent on a massive budget of Rs 80 crores. The film which was in the making for over two years was finally released on April 28, 2023.
But sadly, from day one, Agent was slammed by the critics and audience alike. The film was out of theatres after its first weekend and did not even make Rs 10 crores at the box office. The producer, Anil Sunkara lost close to Rs 50 crores on this film and openly tweeted that the team did not have a proper script in hand and took the film on floors and that is why Agent bombed at the box office.
Sony Liv had bought the OTT rights of the film and was supposed to stream the action drama from May 19, 2023. But that did not happen as news came out that there was a financial dispute between the makers and Sony Liv.
