Agatha All Along Episode 4 Ending Explained

The beginning of Agatha All Along has pushed the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an interesting direction for many reasons. We now have a coven of witches, including Joe Locke’s undisclosed character, on their journey along the Witch’s Road, where they all dream of obtaining something. There is so much mystery surrounding the show that fans are eager to know more about these characters and their arcs. The fourth episode was heavily influenced by the aftermath of Sharon Davis’ death in the third episode. The coven is now coming together and working as a team. However, this doesn't mean there aren’t any glitches. One of the highlights of this week’s episode is Agatha’s relationship with Rio Vidal played by Aubrey Plaza. But what stands out even more is what Rio says after kissing Harkness.

Agatha All Along Episode 4 Ending Explained

For those unfamiliar, Agatha All Along is the second show in a trilogy that began with WandaVision. The Elizabeth Olsen-led show served as the foundation, while Agatha All Along and The Vision Series are sequels. Episode four largely centers on Agatha Harkness finally caring about someone without expecting anything in return. She seems to have a soft spot for the teen character, believing he might be Nicholas Scratch, her son, whom she allegedly sacrificed to obtain the Darkhold. However, Rio Vidal confirms in episode four that he is not Nicholas Scratch.

By the end of episode four, the coven is resting, and a spark ignites between Agatha and the Green Witch, aka Rio Vidal. This moment leads to a secluded corner where they start making out, which confirms their past dynamic. However, the real bombshell comes after the kiss when Rio says, “That boy isn’t yours.” This suggests that Joe Locke’s character is not Agatha’s son, whom she supposedly sacrificed to gain the Book of the Damned.

This revelation confirms two key things: first, that Rio and Agatha were romantically involved, and second, that Joe Locke is not playing Nicholas Scratch. This implies that Joe Locke’s character could be Wanda Maximoff’s teen son, which is the most plausible theory. Some fan theories suggest that he could be Mephisto hiding in plain sight, though the likelihood of this is minimal. Meanwhile, considering Rio’s mysterious reputation, there’s a possibility that she could be lying. Only future episodes will reveal the truth.
