Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan collaborated five years ago for YRF's social drama, Sui Dhaaga: Made In India.
Following the birth of her daughter, Anushka Sharma is taking it slow and steady in terms of her work commitments. The actress has reportedly already secured a project for next year after finishing her sports biography, Chakda Xpress, which will be released on Netflix this year.
According to latest reports, Atlee's next film will see Varun Dhawan teaming up with Anushka Sharma after working with Shah Rukh Khan for his Bollywood debut, Jawan.
Reports from Peeping Moon suggests that Anushka and Varun have been signed on to star in Atlee's upcoming film, an adaptation of the 2016 Tamil blockbuster Theri. It's interesting to note that Atlee was the director of the first film, which featured Thalapathy Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Amy Jackson in the key roles.
The movie would reportedly have two lead actresses, according to the entertainment portal. Anushka has already given her approval for the movie, but casting is still going on for the second female lead. According to rumours, Janvhi Kapoor was also approached for the role but declined out of date-related concerns. Additionally, it has been stated that Varun and Anushka's film's title has not yet been chosen.
To make it current and interesting for today's North Indian audience, Atlee and his team appear to have completely rewritten the original script. The Hindi movie is reported to be a revised version of Theri with new characters and plot twists rather than a plain remake.
This movie will be directed by Tamil filmmaker Kalees, who has already started pre-production with plans to start shooting by August 2023.
