The film will be Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's third outing after Gully Boy and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
One of the most adored filmmakers, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, always has a lot of excitement surrounding his next films. In fact, the unconventional director recently unveiled the first look of his Netflix-supported web series Heeramandi which has received a lot of attention. SLB spoke candidly about moving this huge endeavour to a digital platform during the launch ceremony.
As said by Bhansali, making large-scale movies comes naturally to him. But when he got to OTT, he created something more substantial, his largest endeavour to date. Thus, the filmmaker didn't need to adjust to the digital format; this will be similar to watching a movie. Thus, there is no room for hesitation or trying to be unconventional for OTT. For this, Bhansali produced eight episodes, and because it requires so much work, he's continually revising the screenplay. Although it takes longer than watching a movie, they are all thoroughly enjoying it.
Bhansali has started getting ready for his next film, Baiju Bawra which will star Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. In Mumbai, Heeramandi is in its final stages of filming.
A source close to the development told Pinkvilla that Bhansali has been working on the project for a while and has already written a solid script for the movie because the subject is very important to him. However, preparation for the shoot has begun because he plans to begin filming Baiju Bawra in the middle of this year. The months they are considering are June or July. His performers have already received requests for dates. After the final dates are decided, construction will start on the Mumbai sets, where a significant chunk of the movie will be shot.
It's interesting to note that this will be Ranveer and Alia's third collaboration, following Gully Boy by Zoya Akhtar and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani by Karan Johar. In addition, after Gangubai Kathiawadi Baiju Bawra will bring her and Bhansali back together. After Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat, this will be the filmmaker's fourth collaboration with Ranveer.
