It’s a dream come true moment for those behind Minnal Murali including its director Basil Joseph, star Tovino Thomas and as well as the millions who have watched and enjoyed the film across the country. Tovino’s Minnal Murali, the desi-superhero, will now be featured in Tinkle Comics!

The film’s producer Sophia Paul took to her social media page on Wednesday to announce that the makers have entered into a partnership with Amar Chitra Katha’s Tinkle Comics Studio to bring the superhero to comic books.

Another exciting update is that the team will be at the 2023 Comic Con International at San Diego, which will be held from July 21 to 23. Along with the big announcement, Sophia had also shared the cover page of an upcoming issue of Minnal Murali that featured the masked hero along with his nephew Josemon and Bruce Lee Biji.

A few days ago, the film’s director had confirmed that the team is in discussions for the story development of Minnal Murali 2, which will be made on a much bigger scale and released in theatres worldwide.

The comic book update could also be part of the larger scheme of things planned for the release of the sequel. Minnal Murali, which also starred Guru Somasundaram, Aju Varghese, Mammukoya and Harishree Ashokan, was released directly on Netflix in 2021.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Tovino Thomas said that the team was in no rush to make the sequel, despite its international acclaim. “We believe it should be done at the right time, especially now that we have a responsibility. Also, physically and mentally, I have to put in a lot of effort to play Minnal Murali again,” he said.

For months after its release, Minnal Murali was the only Indian title to dominate Netflix’s Global Top 10 list. Meanwhile, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone-starrer Project K is another Indian movie that will have a major announcement at the Comic-Con International this week.
