Ponniyin Selvan 3 rumours spark frenzy online – Will Mani Ratnam give fans what they want?
"Will there be a third part?" is the question on the minds of many fans of the epic film series, Ponniyin Selvan. Director Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2 , the highly-anticipated second part of the two-part series was released in cinemas on Friday, has been receiving rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. While the slow pace of the first part was a concern for some, the second part has addressed this issue and has been able to captivate the audience with its gripping storyline.
However, fans seem to want more of the world that Mani Ratnam has created for Ponniyin Selvan. Despite the success of the second part, according to sources close to the production team, the film adaptation of Ponniyin Selvan will not continue beyond part two. Mani Ratnam has been trying to make a movie out of Ponniyin Selvan since the 1980s, and he finally achieved it after over 20 years of perseverance.

The success of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 1 and 2 provided the inspiration for Ratnam to split the movie into two parts, solving one of the main challenges of telling a story from a five-volume novel in a 2.5-hour movie.
According to early reports, Ponniyin Selvan 2 may emerge as one of the highest-grossing movies in the history of Tamil cinema. It is predicted that the movie could be the first Tamil film to cross Rs 1000 crore at the box office.
With that feeling of triumphant, Ratnam will next direct Kamal Haasan. The movie has not been named yet and it will mark their reunion after a gap of more than three decades.
