The pandemic has already led to several ‘chamber’ films due to the restrictions and now in Mollywood one-actor movies seem to have become a trend. After Jayasurya and Ranjith Sankar’s Sunny earlier this year, Mohanlal has now confirmed that his movie Alone, which is directed by Shaji Kailas, will also revolve around a single character played by the superstar.

Alone, which went on floors in October, was completed in a record 18 days. Scripted by Rajesh Jayaraman, the movie marks the first collaboration between director Shaji Kailas and Mohanlal after a gap of 12 years. The Narasimham and Aaraam Thampuram duo had last worked together in Red Chillies in 2019.

Mohanlal talked about Alone in a recent interview with The Cue, in which he said that the team had researched about pulling off a one-actor movie and how to make it engaging. Unlike Sunny, which released directly on Amazon Prime Video, Alone could be a theatrical release. The superstar, whose latest release Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham hit theatres on December 2, said that the producers of Alone will take a call on its release platform after gauging the situation of theatres.

Alone is touted to be a thriller. It has Don Max as the editor while Jakes Bejoy is on board as the film’s music director. Abhinandan Ramanujam, who had worked with Mohanlal in the Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial Bro Daddy, has cranked the camera for the film, which has Santosh Raman as the production designer. The latter had erected a set where the entire movie was shot.
